MUGABE’S OLD TORTURER NOW LIVING IN MISERY

Crispen Makendenge, a name many Zimbabweans remember with fear and anger, is now a broken man. Once a powerful officer under Robert Mugabe’s rule, he is now living a sad life filled with pain and suffering. A photo of him was posted by Crime Watch Zim, showing him looking lost and weak. This photo has made many people talk on social media, and they are asking one big question: is this karma?

Makendenge used to be in charge of the CID Law and Order Division. He was known for going after anyone who stood up against the government. He was feared by opposition members and journalists. He was not just doing his job — he was cruel. Many say he beat, tortured, and abused people who disagreed with Mugabe’s rule. Now, that same man is in a bad state, and some say this is a sign of “ngozi” — the spirit of revenge or justice in Zimbabwean culture.

One of the people who says they suffered at his hands is Job Sikhala, a strong voice in the opposition. Sikhala says Makendenge tortured him during police questioning. He says he was even electrocuted. Despite this pain, Sikhala says he does not hate Makendenge. In fact, he says he wants to show him love. Many people are shocked by this. They say it shows that Sikhala is bigger than hate.

But not everyone feels the same. On social media, many Zimbabweans are not ready to forgive. They say Makendenge ruined lives. They say he used his power to silence voices that were trying to help Zimbabwe. Some of the journalists he went after are now working for The NewsHawks, and they still remember the fear he caused. For them, seeing him now like this is justice.

Makendenge is now said to be battling mental health issues. He no longer walks like a powerful man. He no longer talks like someone in charge. He is just another old man, living in silence and pain. Some people feel sorry for him, but many say he is just facing the results of his actions.

This photo and the reactions to it are not just about one man. They are a warning. They show what can happen when people in power use their positions to hurt others. They show that time will always tell the truth. No matter how strong you are today, you cannot run from your past.

The people of Zimbabwe are using this moment to talk about justice. They are asking: how many others like Makendenge are still walking free? How many are still in power, still hurting people, still getting away with it? They are calling for real justice, not just pictures and social media debates. They want those who abuse power to be held accountable, not just wait for karma.

Makendenge is no longer feared. He is now pitied or ignored. But his story is not over. It lives in the hearts of those he hurt. It lives in the calls for change. It is a story that says: the wheel always turns.

Zimbabwe must remember that cruelty never wins forever. Those who oppress, arrest, and torture may have power for a while, but truth and justice always find their way. Today it is Makendenge. Tomorrow it may be someone else.

This is not about revenge. It is about building a country where no one should ever go through what opposition members, activists, and journalists went through. It is about learning, healing, and making sure history does not repeat itself.
