MNANGAGWA UNDER FIRE AS ZANU PF POWER FIGHT EXPLODES

President Emmerson Mnangagwa is now facing one of the biggest problems of his rule. Even people from inside his own party, ZANU PF, are now turning against him. Many Zimbabweans have been angry at him for years, but now, the anger is also coming from his own side. This is happening just three years before the next election in 2028.

Some people in ZANU PF want him to stay in power until 2030. But others say he must go when his term ends in 2028. This fight has started big problems in the party. Some party members are even calling for him to step down right now. Some say he must be removed.

Because of this, Mnangagwa has fired some top security officers. Experts believe he is scared of a coup. He wants to make sure no one inside the army or police will remove him like how Robert Mugabe was removed in 2017.

What makes this more serious is that there have been protests in the streets. People have protested before, but this time the protests were called by a member of ZANU PF. That is new and dangerous for the president.

Zimbabwe has had problems for many years. The economy is very bad. There are no jobs. Prices are too high. Most people are suffering. Even people who used to support the government are now losing hope.

A human rights activist, Blessing Vava, said Zimbabweans are tired and looking for someone to save them. He said people want a real change because life is now too hard.

The big problem in ZANU PF is between two groups. One group wants Mnangagwa, who is now 82 years old, to continue as president after 2028. The other group wants Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, who is 68 years old, to take over. This has created serious tension in the party.

When Mnangagwa came to power in 2017, he promised to fix the economy and bring democracy. But many people say he has done the opposite. Corruption is still there. The economy is worse. And opposition leaders are always being arrested or silenced.

According to Zimbabwe’s laws, a president can only serve two terms. Mnangagwa is now in his second term. So, he must leave office in 2028. But his supporters are pushing for a “2030 agenda,” saying he must stay longer. Last year, ZANU PF held a meeting and agreed to this plan. But for it to happen, the Senate and the people must also agree. Many Zimbabweans are against this plan. They say it is not fair and it breaks the law.

One of the loudest voices against Mnangagwa right now is Blessed “Bombshell” Geza. He is a war veteran and also a senior ZANU PF member. He used to support Mnangagwa but now says he made a mistake. He has been calling for protests and says the president has failed.

Geza says Mnangagwa only cares about his family. He says the president gave too much power to his wife and children. In one video, Geza said Mnangagwa forgot the people and became too corrupt after getting power.

The United States placed sanctions on Mnangagwa, his wife Auxillia, and other officials in 2024. They were accused of being involved in gold and diamond smuggling. In 2023, Al Jazeera also showed that Zimbabwean gold was being sold by gangs with help from government people.

Still, some people say Geza is not a hero. They say he is part of the same system that has destroyed the country. One analyst, Takura Zhangazha, said Geza only got support because Zimbabweans are tired of suffering. It’s not because they trust him.

In the end, Zimbabwe is now in a very dangerous moment. The ruling party is fighting inside itself. The people are angry. And the president is trying to stay in power no matter what. What happens next could change Zimbabwe forever.
