ABOUT

My name is Regina Mtekedza, and I currently live in Gloucester, UK. Originally from Zimbabwe, I have always been deeply passionate about political activism and fighting for democracy and justice in my home country. I became politically active in 2007 when I joined the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) in Zimbabwe, driven by my belief that everyone should have a voice and the right to participate in shaping the future of their country.

My commitment to political activism goes beyond just being a member of a political party. I attended rallies, meetings, and engaged with like-minded individuals who shared my vision for a better Zimbabwe. I supported the movement for change, standing firm in my belief that the power of the people can bring about positive transformation. Since then, I have continued my involvement in political activism, and in 2020, I became a member of the MDC Alliance in the UK. More recently, I have been a supporter of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), which advocates for democracy and social justice.

In addition to my political involvement, I worked in my family’s business in Zimbabwe, exporting oranges to Zambia. My exposure to political and social challenges in my community, coupled with the struggles of many Zimbabweans, strengthened my resolve to stand against oppression and advocate for the rights of all citizens. Living in the UK has allowed me to continue my activism while also working as a health assistant, where I dedicate myself to helping others in need. I take great pride in supporting individuals and contributing positively to their well-being. Alongside this, I have built a close life with my sister, Janice, and her children, playing a key role in their daily care and upbringing.

My political activism is not just about my past, but an ongoing commitment to justice and change. I believe in the importance of standing up for what is right and ensuring that the voices of the people are heard. I remain connected with Zimbabwe’s fight for democracy, supporting the cause from wherever I am, and I am determined to continue advocating for a better future for my homeland.
